About Desiree

Desiree Goldman moved to Chapel Hill in 1996 for the same reason many of her realty client’s come: great schools and a great place to raise kids. She became a Realtor in 1998 and saw the first 13 years of her career honored when she was named the 2010 “Realtor of the Year” by the Greater Chapel Hill Association of Realtors. Desiree was working hard at an early age when she was a project manager in her family’s Florida consulting firm before opening her own management-consulting firm. She specialized in helping small business owners and enjoyed the positive impact she made in her community. After moving to North Carolina she transitioned her consulting skills to the Real Estate market and helping clients one-on-one with the business of buying and selling real estate. The career change allowed her to invest in the community and ensure her clients found what they needed and wanted in a home.

Becoming a Realtor also allowed Desiree to focus more time and energy on her family. With daughter Alexis and son Steele, she became involved in the school system working as the PTA co-president at Frank Porter Graham Elementary and Carrboro Elementary. She currently volunteers at Steele’s high school, Carrboro High, with the Arts Enrichment Committee-Encore. She also serves on the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Development and Public Policy Committee, regularly making appearances before town and county boards of officials and using what one colleague termed “her louder voice” to press for ordinances and policies that lessen a homeowner’s tax burden and increase needed business development.

When she’s not helping a client find their dream home, Desiree might be found letting off steam in the practice of martial arts. Although not destined to be bloodied in the UFC Octagon, she’s a 2nd degree black belt and winner of silver and gold medals in national Tae Kwon Do championships in 1999-2003, helping train Alexis to national prominence in the sport as well. Desiree learned that Martial Arts are more than physical exercise. The tenets of courtesy, integrity, self-control, perseverance and an indomitable spirit that are foundational in Tae Kwon Do are integral in how she leads her life.

If you’re looking for a Realtor who has only the client’s best interests at heart, one who will not falter in tough situations and shows grace under pressure, look no further than Desiree Goldman.

  • Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) – This coveted designation is awarded by the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council (REBAC), an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors. Real estate agents must meet specified educational and experience requirements to earn this distinction
  • Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) – This designation assures clients that their agent has made the commitment to provide a high level of service by securing a strong educational foundation from the National Association of Realtors. The GRI designation is given to realtors who are highly trained in an array of real estate areas, and are able to better protect and serve their clients.
  • Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS) – The Institute for Luxury Home marketing helps real estate professionals provide high quality service to buyers and sellers of luxury homes. To earn the CLHMS designation, extensive training and experience with high-end real estate must be completed. Desiree was the first general broker realtor in the area to achieve this recognition.
